Happy Halloween! Thankful for the sweet smiles we Happy Halloween! Thankful for the sweet smiles we shared, the memories we made and the candy THEY ate 🎃
I find myself searching scriptures today. Begging I find myself searching scriptures today. Begging God to help me understand the hate and objectification I hear and see on posts just like this. I don’t have all the answers. Don’t fully understand the deep layers of trauma, suffering and oppression embedded in Israel. I do not know how someone can get to a point where human slaughter becomes a cause of celebration and inhumanity a means to elevate one’s self. I don’t understand what it means to live in the middle of a war torn country. I say this not as an excuse, but as a filter to own my privilege and the reality that I have never suffered in a way that I am capable of fully comprehending the deep levels of pain and despair people in Israel are facing right now. As I sit and pray, the one thing that keeps ringing in my ear is this scripture.

“We love because he first loved us. Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.” - 1 John 4:19-20

The overwhelming truth that defines my faith journey is… LOVE. I pray this encourages you to.

Lord,
In the face of suffering, let me be a light of hope and blanket of comfort Lord. Let me step into the shoes of those who are grieving and be a safe place to land. Let me lend a hand to those who have lost their home and be a source of
support. Let me weep with those who weep and mourn with those who morn. Let me seek to understand. Lord may I be quick to listen and slow to speak. May I honor the pain and hear the ache of affliction with grace and humility. Lord let whomever sits on the other side of me experience YOU in a way that is tangible and transformational. God PLEASE give me wisdom on how to love and serve in the midst of suffering. Amen.

I think it’s a good sign when you cry at the end I think it’s a good sign when you cry at the end of summer? I’m choosing to believe so at least. Man has it been exhausting, but man has it been worth it.

Was truly sad to say goodbye to the slow mornings and long days together as we sent the first two off for the start of 5th and 7th grace this morning!

Give me till Monday and I’ll be back in the saddle of a routine. But until then, I’m going to keep zooming in on these fools and trying to figure out how they got SO BIG this summer!
